The Jiangsu Province Collaborative Innovation Center of Quality Safety Control of Meat Production and Process (hereafter referred to as "the Center") was approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Government in 2014 and was established by Nanjing Agricultural University in collaboration with Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jiangsu Entry Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the Yurun Group, the Jiangsu Food Group, and the Guihuaya Group. The Center has aimed at realistic demand for quality safety control of meat production and process in Jiangsu Province; taken the construction of a beautiful and harmonious Jiangsu Province as orientation; followed the demand-oriented, all-round opening, deeply integrated, and innovation-guided principles; gathered superior disciplines, talents teams, scientific research platforms, bases, and leading enterprises in the field of quality safety of meat production and process, and given full play to the advantages and characteristics of all the collaborative partners, so as to establish a "Jiangsu Province Collaborative Innovation Center of Quality Safety Control of Meat Production and Process", and to construct five platforms for basic research on quality safety of meat products, for developing technologies of safe meat production, for developing new technology and equipment of meat process, for supervising meat products safety and risk assessment, and for integrating technologies of meat production and process. Relying on the organization of "one center and five platforms", the Center has organized important researches on basic theories, prospective technologies and application in meat industry in order to obtain important new technologies, new processes, new equipment, and new products, all of which would support development of meat industry in Jiangsu Province and in China, to form new mechanism of industrialization, to comprehensively enhance the capacity of technological innovation, to contribute to the solution of the troubling problems of quality safety control of meat production and process in the Jiangsu area and even in the whole country, and to eventually build the Center into a world-class academic plateau, a base of innovation-driven development of technologies for safety control of meat production and process, and a guide and leader in the meat industry.
