The Jiangsu Province Collaborative Innovation Center of Modern Crop Production (hereafter referred to as "the Center") was approved in 2014 by the Jiangsu Provincial Government and was founded by Nanjing Agricultural University in collaboration with Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Anhui Agricultural University, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Jiangsu Province Crop Cultivation Guidance Station. The Center takes the major scientific issues of and important technological demand for development of crop industry in Jiangsu Province as motivations, the development of food crops and cash crops in Jiangsu Province and surrounding economically developed areas as the motive power, and high-yield crop production under efficient and ecologically safe conditions as the goal of research; and gathers and integrate the characteristics and advantages of the cooperative partners to carry out collaborative innovation. The Center will form one platform for common key technology innovation, and four branch centers of modern rice production, modern wheat production, modern soybean/oil-seed rape production, and modern cotton/corn production, have technological innovation, talent cultivation and discipline construction as the key issues of innovation, and reforming in mechanism and systems as the major measure. And it will thoroughly integrate all the innovative resources and elements available, give full play to the comprehensive advantages of "policy, production, academic research, technology extension and application" so as to build a collaborative innovation system with distinct characteristics, openness and orderliness, and efficient operation; which will effectively serve Jiangsu Province in its crop production modernization.
